Families Can Be Forever

The Jordan River temple, where my husband and I were married and sealed for time and eternity.

I feel so incredibly blessed to have the fullness of the gospel in my life. I know that I am a cherished daughter of God and that if I keep my covenants made at baptism and in the temple, I will be worthy to live with my Heavenly Father again. That is my ultimate goal. And of course, I want to be there with my family.

Families are central to our Heavenly Father’s plan for us and He has given us a way for families to be together forever. Through the Priesthood, which is God’s authorized power here on earth, and in the temple, which is God’s house, couples may be sealed for time and all eternity to each other and may have their children sealed to them as well. The sealing ordinance is what makes this possible.

When David and I were married, it was not “’til death do us part”, but for time and all eternity. That’s because we were sealed when we were married, in one of the Lord’s holy temples, by the proper Priesthood authority. Our sealing meant that our children were born “under the covenant”, so they are sealed to us as well.

For couples who marry outside the temple, they may later be sealed in the temple to each other and their children, when they are prepared and worthy to do so.
